Steve is a principal in the firm's tax division specializing in construction taxation, multi-state taxes, business valuation and other complex tax issues. His expertise in construction tax and accounting has provided him the opportunity to teach courses for the PICPA on construction tax issues and to develop a construction bookkeeping service for our clients, which can help contractors track job costs and reduce operational expenses in the office.
Steve also works closely with the legal profession and is proficient in estate planning, estate accounting, estate taxation, divorce planning, and litigation support. In support of these specialty areas, he is past President of the Lancaster County Estate Planning Council and is actively involved as a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
Well-recognized in the business community, Steve is the most active member of the firm in terms of public speaking and involvement in the state's professional society. As a spokesperson for the firm and the profession, he has appeared numerous times on WGAL on tax-related topics and has had several articles published in the Pennsylvania CPA Journal on a variety of issues including, bankruptcy, farm taxation, tax reform, construction accounting, and starting a business in Pennsylvania. Steve is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA's legislative committee. He also serves on the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce's Advocacy Council.
For Steve, community involvement is his way of showing thanks for the opportunities he has been given both professionally and personally. Steve is a member of the executive committee of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. He is an alumnus of the initial Leadership Lancaster class in 1984. In 2003 he received the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Community Leadership Association, a National Organization of Community Leadership Programs.
Steve is a 1975 graduate of Hempfield High School and a 1979 graduate of Penn State University. He became licensed as a CPA in 1981, joined the firm in 1983, and became a partner in 1986. In 1994 Steve earned the Certified Valuation Analyst designation, which indicates proficiency in the business valuation field.
